Fuelcards.co.uk motoring news: New fleet car and van sales online “rising but erratic” says Epyx
01/07/2010
Fleet news have reported that sales of new fleet cars and vans are 50 per cent up on a year ago, although they are still not at the level they were before the recession.
Ken Trinder, head of business development at Epyx, said fleets were certainly buying cars and vans in much higher numbers than during the last couple of years, but they are not repeating orders in the same way they would have done before the recession.
“We do see an interesting effect which we believe is a reflection of the erratic economic recovery – we’ll have perhaps two busy days on the platform followed by a noticeably quiet one. Each order for a single vehicle or a batch is being carefully considered. There are strong indications that fleets are increasingly looking to the use of e-commerce for vehicle ordering.”
He added: “The benefits that e-commerce brings to fleets buying cars and vans are very similar to those it delivers in areas such as buying service and maintenance or short term hire.”
In related news, the recent budget will mean higher costs for fleets, claimed Fleet News.
