Fuel Card News Motoring Updates: Honda joins green car race
21/07/2010
Manufacturer Honda has announced it is to launch an electric car in the US and Japan by 2012 as it joins the race to produce eco-friendly vehicles.
It is the first time the company, which produces the Insight and CR-Z hybrids has committed to declaring a date to launch a battery-powered electric car, according to the BBC.
Chief Executive of the Honda Motor Co, Takanobu Ito said at a news conference: “Honda has no future unless we achieve significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The next 10 years will be a true test for Honda's survival."
He did not divulge further details about the car, or a plug-in hybrid also planned in the near future.
In other manufacturer news, Vauxhall was the top selling make among new fleet car registrations in June, with 22,018 units sold, representing a 77.6 per cent increase on the same month last year.
