The M25 is Britain’s most depressing road, according to a survey of 3,000 motorists carried out by Motorcycle News.
Based on factors such as traffic jams, potholes, speed cameras and boredom, drivers and motorcyclists were asked to name the most depressing routes.
The 119-mile London orbital road, long dubbed the “longest car park in Britain”, came top of the list.
In second place was the Birmingham stretch of the M6, in third was the A1 in London, and following this was the M5 near Bristol.
The survey also revealed that 59 per cent of car drivers find driving in Britain stressful, according to the Telegraph.
Speaking to the Express, the AA’s Paul Watters advised: “De-stress yourself by not being tired, having the right music on in the car and leaving plenty of time for the journey. Then grin and bear it.”
In other news, the Institute of Advanced Motorists has expressed disappointment over the lack of provision for driver training beyond the learner test in the new EU Road Safety Programme, describing it as a “missed opportunity”.
