Fuel Cards News Motoring Updates: Energy Saving Trust calls on businesses to invest in electric cars
26/09/2011
The Energy Saving Trust has launched a new video guide to promote the realities of electric vehicles (EV) to businesses in the UK.
The video entitled ‘Living with an electric car’ explores the benefits and opportunities of investing in electric cars in a bid to help organisations reduce their carbon emissions and fuel costs.
The guide, presented by Red Dwarf’s Robert Llewellyn, tackles obstacles such as charging, range and cost.
Llewellyn, who also appeared in Scrapheap Challenge, explained: “The video really highlights the realities of buying, owning, and living with an electric vehicle and serves as a real myth buster.
“I have been driving electric cars for the last couple of years and most recently the Nissan LEAF. Driving an electric car is a breath of fresh air. If you really want to understand more about EVs, these films are a great place to start.”
Philip Sellwood, Chief Executive of Energy Saving Trust, said: “Over the last few years, there has been much debate about the viability of the electric car and the part they play in today’s carbon conscious society.
“It’s obvious that there is a huge benefit in terms of electric vehicles in terms of cutting emissions on the road, but it is also clear that they can make economic sense for some organisations and individuals.”
In other news, local authorities are being hit by shocking road conditions as motorists claim for damage caused to their cars by potholes.
