Fuel Card News Motoring Updates: Aldermore Bank Pledges FairFuelUK Support
06/08/2012
Petrol & diesel campaign group, FairFuelUK, has confirmed Aldermore Bank has become its newest supporter joining the fight against rises in fuel duty.
Over the last 18 months, FairFuelUK has helped stop £5bn of fuel duty being paid by commercial and private drivers in the UK.
Quentin Willson, national spokesman for FairFuelUK said: “We welcome the support of Aldermore. FairFuelUK is pleased to have the support of a Bank that understands about lending to Small and Medium Sized businesses. It’s a perfect philosophical fit.”
Earlier this year, FairFuelUK was integral to The Treasury’s deferral of the planned 3p per litre fuel duty rise, scheduled for 1st August 2012.
However, with this rise now planned for January, campaigners are working hard to maintain pressure on Government to further support the UK’s struggling transport sector
“UK hauliers still have no competitive advantage over those from Europe who pay far less in tax, fuel duty and overheads, meaning our overheads, and therefore prices, will always be higher, “explains The Fuelcard Company’s Jakes de Kock. “The result, of course, is a substantial loss of business at a time when our industry and economy need it most.”
